What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!

Last night, I informed someone who was very emotionally involved in a certain wank that a claim they made was factually wrong.

Thankfully, they did not flame me, not yet. Someone else did. I think. I didn't see for sure, because I saw the wall of text through squinting eyes and closed the email. I knew, I knew, I knew they were going to rationalize it away and get mad at me, and I did it anyway, because I couldn't bear to let a falsehood abide.

I really should stop doing that.

I'm trying to. It was on an LJ analogue site, so I'm just going to delete any emails I get related to the matter. I got homework I need to procrastinate on.

And I was only at level 2. The claim was that a certain individual, who co-ran a certain popular website, told their readers to attack a certain person on a certain other website that wildly misinterpreted one of the...features of the first person's website. That would probably be legally actionable if it were true, whether criminally or civilly, but it's not. In fact, the person I responded to seemed to be getting all their info from the second party, without fact-checking it. The first website has categorically stated their intended message with the feature in question, and it's pretty much the opposite of what the second party and those sharing their opinion thought it was. Given some familiarity with the second party, I know for a fact that they will never admit they were wrong, and will or have focused on blaming the first website for their misinterpretation. Of course, it could've been cleared up by simply asking the people who run the first website what they were trying to say, but the second website has a vested interest in relying on their interpretation of a piece over the actual intent.

TL:DR; someone was being a dick, I corrected them in a calm, objective and factual manner, and now I'm going to walk away.

Subject change: 43 minutes into Sherlock series 2, and by gum, it is awesome.

I haven't seen it at all, in fact. This might be a good reason to subscribe to the service, seeing as we're getting Doctor Who pretty reliably quickly down here.

Ooh, that reminds me. Better find out when the movie is being shown down here.

I hadn't either, but there was so much good press I figured it had to be doing something right. That "something" is "quite a lot".
