I like to think of bad times as learning experiences.
Here's what I learned yesterday.
What I learned today:
Here's what I learned yesterday.
- Walking two miles and change, to an unfamiliar part of town after a six-inch snowfall may not be a good idea.
- If you copy a map from Google Maps onto your phone, and you realize that you took a wrong turn in the first five minutes, go back and correct it, instead of assuming you can fix it at the next intersection.
- According to Street view, you probably would've gotten just as lost.
- It's easier to just walk around the town center and take Bridge St.>Blackburn Rd. more or less straight to the cinema.
- Giving myself only an hour to get there was a bad idea.
- The service my mobile carrier gives to identify the nearest cinema does not give directions. It does, however, give about six texts with showtimes.
- Don't be afraid to ask for directions because of social anxiety.
- The river near the theatre is pretty.
- If you miss the showtime, it is really awkward to sit in the lobby for an hour waiting for the next one.
- Specify whether you want footlong hot dogs or regular. Don't assume that the one you're getting is the only one available.
- If you buy a large drink, remember that you'll have to go to the loo if you drink too much of it.
- You'll have ample oppourtunity to do so during the half-hour of trailers and ads.
- No, seriously. Half an hour.
- The theatre tells patrons that they have a few more minutes of trailers to buy snacks. If you have to, go to the bathroom.
- If they have a half-hour of trailers, you probably could've bought tickets to the 1:30 showing despite being about thirty seconds late, despite the cashier assuming that you wanted a later one.
- Having to pee for the last hour of a movie is kinda uncomfortable.
- Taxi companies have difficulty coming out in heavy snow.
- Don't take a different route away from the theatre because you want to "explore". Said route would've saved time, but you had no way of knowing it.
- At one point, you were actually on Blackburn Rd., and turned off, away from the timesaving route.
- Ask for directions before you walk a quarter-mile in the wrong direction.
- The landscape of Bolton at night is quite nice.
- If you happen to pass a taxi company while walking, you should seriously consider taking it.
- Walking alone, in the dark, gives you a lot of time to think. I thought mostly about how stupid I was.
- I should probably buy a compass.
What I learned today:
- Church is closed.
