Wait, what's the difference between 'outside' and 'inside' clothes? A jumper and shoes?

In my case, jeans instead of track pants, shoes and socks instead of slippers, and a hat instead of bare headed. I was already wearing a sweatshirt, so all I would have to do is grab my coat and make sure my window was properly shut.
