I never realized that the movie's soundtrack was a perfect storm of Teenage Girl Bands. I mean, I knew it was a wreck of a book that wallows in Mary-Suedness and drags modern feminism by the collar and hauls it into the kitchen to make it a sandwich, but I had no idea someone seems to have computer-calibrated the music to appeal to the Youth Of Today. No, not those. The ones in the shirts from Hot Topic. Those.

Two Paramore songs, and one Linkin Park that was released over a year ago. And I'm not criticizing the bands themselves--that would be awfully hypocritical in someone who's defended "Crawling"--but I've never seen such blatant pandering to the fanbase since, um, the New Moon trailer. No, not that one. The one with the shirtless guys. That one.

Incidentally, my sister went to see New Moon with one of our friends from church, her little sister, and her little brother, all of whom love the series. All of them are otherwise considered sensible young people. I'm not sure how Miss Meyer typed into the Elemental Plane of Make Sensible People Lose their Sense of Good Taste as well as Their Frakkin' Minds, but I'd like to harness this power for my own dark and diabolical schemes.

Sadly, the superhero novel genre has a much lower chance of capturing that socially acceptable "Teenage Girls and their Moms" demographic than the stalker vampire genre.

Also, my local theatre refuses to screen The Fantastic Mr. Fox. There is something horribly wrong with the world.
