There's a lot of victim-blaming going on around the web. Yes, it would've been safer to try and blend in, but men are often just as much at risk, and female reporters of Arab descent have been threatened and put at risk too. If the person sexually assaulted hadn't been pretty and white, would all these people care?

Except they weren't using just less-lethal, they were using shotguns.
