(no subject)

I got paid for some prints today.

That makes me officially a professional artist.

I suppose I'd better go change my deviantART status WHOOPS I ALREADY DID.

That said, I did something I regret today. I got a little snippy to someone I shouldn't have, because I was pissed off at myself for making a mistake.

Also, I find myself getting pulled right back in to the Social Justice on Tumblr, when I should be Working on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magical Girl project I'm on.

I’m not sure if this is inspired by Captain America, or supposed to be his grand-niece or something.

Whatever it is, I had intended to finish it for the 4th. WHERPS.

Compare and Contrast: Summergirl.

I've had this unfinished for two months now, and recent events have...made it unlikely I'll find the motivation to.

OH WELL.

I...I kind of want that messenger bag now.

This is what happens when I discover Console to Closet.

Her original head was based on Regina Spektor, and she still has Dem Cheekbones, but I found the first version a little too, um, terrifying.

No, I don't know if I'm doing any more.

Trying a different rendering style. More than a little inspired by Missile—sorry—MISSILE! from Ghost Trick.

It's a weird feeling of disconnect when I look at something like this (or this). I finished it less than an hour ago, I can remember exactly what I did, but it feels like someone else drew it. Maybe because it's so far outside of my usual oeuvre.

Oddly enough, I don't feel this way about my traditional life drawing. I dunno. Maybe I can find some way to bridge the gap between digital sketching and digital graphical work.

I'm not sure what I feel about this girl, but I obviously feel it very strongly.

I made this after getting a D on an assignment I thought I did well on. Cue obligatory self-recriminiation. I was planning to make this anyway, though.

Guess what picture I have to redraw and scan properly instead of using my cell phone camera?

"there is no winner when angry"

I woke up this morning and turned on the computer to find that I had made a mistake in a minor area which most people wouldn't even care about. Me being me, this did a number on my stomach.

Specifically, I posted K-Os with the dA watermark over it, and people mocked me for it. This isn't exactly unusual for the Penny Arcade forums; that lot have a habit of being...blunt in their criticism, and I say this as a man who grew up in the Bahamas.

The heavy feeling in my lower abdomen was not helped by the realization that I left my key in my door when I went to get a sandwich late last night, making my fears of a samurai killing me in my sleep that much closer to reality.

Well, back to procrastinating on homework and not being brave enough to call that girl I like.

This is a poorly-drawn image of the Dyson Airblade.

Or, as I like to call it, the worst bathroom hand drying thingie ever invented.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The instructions on it say to move your hands up and down. Aside from making the user feel slightly ridiculous, this has another effect.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The blue arrows denote the direction of the airstream. Unlike conventional hand dryers, this one blows from two directions at once. And according to the website, they move at 400 MPH.

Combine this with the up and down motion, and you have an extra-fast dryer that is nearly impossible to use without having your hands being blown into one side or another.

In other words, Dyson has taken a device whose chief virtue is that it requires no hand contact with any surface, and made it so users will involuntarily be forced to touch surfaces.

Stick to vacuums and fans, Sir James.

First sketches with a free, entirely legit version of Autodesk Sketchbook.

I've wanted to use this software since Mike from Penny arcade mentioned it years back. I'm not good at drawing directly into el equipo, and I could use the practice.

PsylockeDoodles01.jpg

Doodle_2011-14-16.jpg

It's got this interesting feature where it remembers what the last file saved was. When I saved that second doodle, it automatically suggested "PsylockeDoodles02". The program is also designed to be operated with just a tablet for the most part, so there's none of the Ctrl/Alt/Shift dance one has to do with Photoshop. It's closer to OpenCanvas than anything else, and I've already given it the keyboard launch slot where I used to keep that program.

I also have use of Maya, as long as I don't use either for anything commercial. Thanks, Autodesk Student program!
